Whilst attending JSConf US, I was delighted to take part in the NodeBoats workshop, where we built and coded a small vessel with the vision of taking part in a regatta. During the day, our sense of adventure took us down paths we normally wouldn't take, such as tweaking which parts we used, or adding a web joystick. What we took away was not just a wonderful day and friendships but also lessons I believe can be applied to everyday coding, which this talk aims to share.
